I’m all for the four-day work week — you know what I’m saying. Imagine having a “public holiday” every single week. It doesn’t even have to be a Monday or Friday — sometimes a random Wednesday off is elite.

Imagine it: work Monday and Tuesday, have Wednesday off, then work Thursday and Friday, and boom — weekend again. Sure, you might have to stretch your hours a bit, but doesn’t an extra day off feel worth it?

See, I’m lucky. I already have it — the dream roster. I work Monday to Thursday, then have Friday to Monday off. Basically a mini holiday every second weekend. Come Thursday 6 p.m., I clock off, get in the car, and drive straight into the sunset like I’m escaping my own emails.

Four days of peace, no alarms, and zero thoughts about the work inbox.

The real bonus? When public holidays line up with my roster. If I play my cards right, sometimes I only need to take three annual leave days to get ten off in a row. That’s maths I can get behind.

In the end, it’s all about balance. Work-life balance, bank-leave balance, mental-health balance — all of it. I genuinely enjoy what I do… I just happen to enjoy my roster a little more. There’s something deeply satisfying about knowing I get a regular, scheduled escape from adulthood every second week.

Questions for the table:

If you could pick your perfect four-day work week — which day would you want off, and why?
